5 Amazing Types of Dog Moms
Being a dog mom is no easy feat. It requires a lot of love, patience, and dedication to care for our furry friends. But some dog moms go above and beyond, truly exemplifying what it means to be an amazing caregiver for their pups. Here are just a few examples of awesome dog moms who are truly deserving of recognition and appreciation:
The Working Dog Mom
Many dog moms have to balance the responsibilities of work with the needs of their furry companion. But some working dog moms go the extra mile to make sure their pups are well taken care of, even when they are busy at the office. Whether it’s hiring a dog walker or making sure their dog has plenty of toys and stimulation while they are away, these dog moms make sure their pups are never left wanting for attention or care. If you live in the Blouberg area of Cape Town, I can personally and highly recommend Pet-i-Ket Animal Behaviour Facility for an awesome doggie daycare experience. (They also offer boarding, training, dog walking and birthday parties for your fur kids – how awesome is THAT?!)
The Rescue Dog Mom
Adopting a rescue dog can be a rewarding experience, but it can also come with its own set of challenges. Some rescue dogs may have suffered from neglect or abuse in the past, and may need extra patience and understanding as they adjust to their new home. Rescue dog moms are special because they are willing to take on these challenges and provide a loving home for a dog in need. If you’re in the market for adopting a rescue, there are SO many organisations out there, but our favourite and the one Dog Mom supports the most is The WOW Project, operating out of Melkbos. Another favourite is LEAPS, without whom I wouldn’t have my gorgeous Emmy by my side each day.
The Training Dog Mom
Training dogs can be a time-consuming and rewarding hobby, and some dog moms truly excel in this area. These dog moms spend countless hours training their pups in obedience, agility, or other disciplines, and they are dedicated to helping their dogs reach their full potential. Whether they are training for competition or simply for the bond it creates with their dog, these dog moms are truly devoted to their furry friends. If you’re looking for an amazing training club in Cape Town, I can personally recommend Cape Handlers Dog Club in Milnerton.
The Service Dog Mom
Service dogs are specially trained to assist individuals with disabilities, and their moms play a crucial role in their care and training. Whether they are raising a puppy to become a service dog or caring for a retired service dog, these dog moms are dedicated to ensuring their pups are well-trained and able to help those in need.
The Senior Dog Mom
No, we’re NOT referring to the age of the Dog MOM here ;-). As our dogs age, they may need extra care and attention to stay healthy and happy. Senior dog moms go above and beyond to make sure their older pups are comfortable, including administering medications, making dietary changes, and providing plenty of love and attention. These dog moms understand that age is just a number, and that their senior pups still have plenty of love to give.
Overall, dog moms come in all shapes and sizes, and each one is special in their own way. Whether you are a working dog mom, a rescue dog mom, a training dog mom, a service dog mom, or a senior dog mom, know that you are doing an amazing job and that your furry friend is grateful to have you as their caregiver.
